Job Summary:  

Sheakley Workforce Management Services is currently seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for a position in Cincinnati, OH. Our client is the one of the largest and most advanced European players in the development and production of recycled paper for corrugated packaging. This project is their first US Facility.

This is a 10-month project with the option to be hired directly at the conclusion of the project.

Experience in both Construction and Manufacturing is required.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recognise relevant OSHA, State and local health & safety legal requirements and develop programmes and processes to meet those requirements in line with legal expectation.
  • Understand the client's System and internal health & safety requirements and develop programmes and processes to meet those requirements in line with the client's expectation.
  • To ensure controls and processes required by asset protection insurers are established in line with 'highly protected risk' status.
  • Appropriate H&S oversight of the construction activity
  • Align the recruitment plan with training needs and fulfil those training needs in the most effective manner.
  • Develop site-specific H&S programmes and processes required to meet all legal and Client H&S expectations to ensure safe operation.
  • Provide assurance to project leader that capability is adequately established within conditions, people and processes to ensure safe operation.
  • Serve as Client representative on engagement with the General Contractor on all health & safety matters.

Qualifications/Education/ Experience:

A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is preferred.

CSP or similar certification is preferable.

Five to Ten years of directly related experience in environmental health and safety training and consultation experience is required.


  • Solid knowledge of EHS standards, industry regulatory standards in both construction and manufacturing, with the ability to communicate such standards to others.
  • 5-10 years safety and health experience.
  • Excellent public speaking abilities.
  • Energetic, ambitious, assertive and an excellent communicator.
  • OSHA outreach training experience preferred.
  • Able to meet deadlines, work independently without direct supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • OSHA and regulatory safety training experience.
